Covered 1 aileron and flap. Drilled ribs on right wing and prepped for covering. I used a strip of pegboard as a template for the 2" hole spacing then, after marking holes slid it edgeways across two ribs in a sawing motion will leave a line marking the center point of where to drill.

5-24-06 Covered bottom side of right wing 2.5 hrs
5-28-06 Tightened fabric to 250 degree and installed inspection rings and flap and aileron exit rings. 6.0 hrs
5-30-06 Tightened fabric on right wing to 300 degree inspected edges prior to adding edge tapes. 1.5 hrs
5-31-06 Tightened bottom fabric to 350 degrees installed inspection plate doublers 2.5 hrs
6-1-06 Installed rivet strips and riveted bottom of right wing 1.5 hrs
6-2-06 Tightened top fabric to 350 degree installed rivet strips and began riveting to ribs 2.0 hrs
6-6-06 finished riveting rivet strips to right wing top 2.0 hrs
6-10-06 Began installation of finish tapes on right wing 2.5 hrs
7-4-06 Installation of finish tape on right wing 1.0 hrs
7-11-06 Finished finish tape on right wing. Ironed down tape edges and checked for loose pinked edges. I hope to get back to putting in more time on the rans as I have pretty much finished the room addition, next time I'll hire the brick done its a slow process by yourself. Also finished the set of night stands for my wife. I'll throw in a pic below if I've got one, the addition is on the right of the house. 2.0 hrs

 

7-14-06 put left wing on stands and gathered materials for covering 1.0 hrs
7-16-06 Couldn't take any more, went to Lowe's and bought a window air conditioner for the building. After installing it I covered the top and bottom of left wing. 6.0 hrs

7-17-06 Tightened fabric to 300 degrees 1.0 hrs
7-18-06 Tightened bottom fabric to 350 degree and glued on mylar rivet strips. and mylar stiffeners at strut attach points. 1.0 hrs
7-19-06 Drilled and riveted bottom mylar strips. Applied bed cement for top mylar strips. 1.0 hrs
7-24-06 Glued down top mylar strip. Applied inspection rings and flap and aileron exit rings. Began application of finish tapes. 2.5 hrs
7-26-06 Riveted top mylar strips. Applied finish tapes to remainder of bottom ribs and to top ribs. 2.5 hrs
7-27-06 More finish tapes. 2.0 hrs
7-30-06 Applied remainder of finish tapes to left wing. covered 2nd aileron and flap and applied finish tapes to both ailerons and flaps. 7.5 hrs
8-1-06 Checked and reglued finish tape edges 2.5 hrs
8-2-06 Checked and ironed edges of finish tapes and applied 1st coat of cecofil with foam brush. Those who don't know this is the old Blue river process now distributed by Aircraft Finishing Systems aka Stewart Systems www.aircraftfinishingsystems.com 2.5 hrs
8-3-06 Applied 5 spray coats of cecofil 2.0 hrs

8-4-06 Sanding 3.5 hrs
8-5-06 Sanding, applied 4 spray coats of cecofil. 4.0 hrs
8-8-06 Sanding, applied 4 spray coats of cecofil 3.5 hrs
8-9-06 Sanding. 3.0 hrs
8-10-06 Finished sanding then PAINTED both wings, flaps and ailerons insignia white using Stewart Systems catalyzed waterborne urethane . Pictures forthcoming. 5.0 hrs
8-17-06 I wasn't completely happy with the finish so I resprayed the wings. The waterborne urethane does not spray like any of the urethanes I've used before. This time they turned out pretty good. 3.5 hrs
     
8-20-06 Installed hardware on ailerons and flaps and installed on wings. Began installation of gap seals. 6.5 hrs
8-23-06 Finished installing gap seals, push-pull tubes and flap teleflex cables. 3.5 hrs
8-26-06 Moved wings to airport. 3.0 hrs

10-31-06 Began covering tail surfaces. 2.0 hrs
11-1-06 Covering on tail surfaces 2.0 hrs
12-5-06 Covering of tail surfaces 2.0 hrs
12-6-06 Applying finish tapes on tail surfaces. 2.5 hrs
12-9-06 Finished applying finish tapes to tail surfaces. 2.5 hrs
12-10-06 Tightened fabric on tail surfaces 4.0 hrs
12-12-06 Applied 2 coats of cecofil to tail surfaces 2.5 hrs
12-17-06 sanded tail and applied 4 more spray coats of cecofil 8.0 hrs
12-23-06 Painted tail surfaces, trim tab and other misc parts 4.0 hrs
12-26-06 Painted second paint application on tail and inspection covers and other misc parts 4.0 hrs
